West African leaders approve Dr. Omar Touray’s nomination as Ecowas Commission President

The 61st Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government has wrapped up in Accra, Ghana. The Authority unanimously approved the nomination of the Gambia’s Dr Omar Touray as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission.

This is a historic development for The Gambia, as the country assumes the position of ECOWAS Commission Presidency for the first time.

Equally, the Authority elected His Excellency Umaro Sissoco Embalo, President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, as the new Chairman of the ECOWAS.
