Senegalese man mysteriously disappears after claiming his salary from his boss

One Ibrahima Diouf, a Senegalese living in Spain has been reported missing since January 2021 after claiming his salary from his boss.

According to Senegal’s leading online news site Seneweb, since 5 January 2021, Ibrahima Diouf has been missing. His family has no news. The 32-year-old seasonal worker had gone to announce his resignation and collect his salary from his boss Ginés Vicente, a 53-year-old Spaniard.

According to the brother of the missing man, Moussa, who spoke to Bés Bi newspaper, the victim was supposed to take the bus to Cartaya (Huelva), but never did. “We don’t know anything since he went to see the boss,” he said.

Last week, Moussa says, Spanish investigators combed some of Ginés Vicente’s properties in the hope of finding a body or something useful for the investigation, but their search turned up nothing.

This is not the first time that this Spanish businessman has been involved in the disappearance of a seasonal worker. According to Moussa Diouf, before his brother, a 22-year-old Malian named Tidiany Coulibaly had not been seen since the day he left to ask for a better salary. The two men quarrelled and the Malian was never seen again.

Ginés Vicente was prosecuted after this incident, but was only convicted of labour exploitation.

Bés Bi newspaper reports that Spanish investigators are convinced that the two seasonal workers were killed, but have been unable to find their bodies. The investigation continues.

The newspaper reports that Ibrahima Diouf is from Yène. He is married and has a daughter. He had been living in Spain for six years. He first settled for four years in Bilbao. Then he moved to Huelva de Cartaya, for the olive season, before ending up in Villacarrillo. A town where he lived for a year and a half before his mysterious disappearance.
