GANU leader Sheikh Tijan Hydara is new Gambian Ambassador to Cuba

The President of the Republic of the Gambia HE Adama Barrow has appointed Hon. Sheikh Tijan Hydara, leader of the Gambia Alliance for National Unity (GANU) as the new Gambia Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, LTN has learnt.

Hon. Hydara has served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice in the Gambia from 2003 to 2006. He was also a law lecturer at the University of the Gambia until 2014 when he established a private law firm called Lex-Fori Law Chambers, located at Bakau New Town.

Mr. Vincent Mendy has also been appointed as the new Deputy Ambassador to Cuba.

Meanwhile, President Barrow has also made the following appointments in the foreign service; Ousman Rambo Jatta, deputy party leader of APRC has been appointed as a Consular to the Gambia Embassy in South Africa, Hon. Saikou Marong, former National Assembly for Latrikunda Sabiji Constituency has been appointed as Consular at the Gambia Embassy in Morocco, Hon. Alhagie Jawara, former National Assembly for Lower Badibou has been appointed as the First Secretary at the Gambia Embassy in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Mrs. Aji Fatou Joof has been appointed as a First Secretary at the Gambia Embassy in India, Bakary Singhateh is appointed as the First Secretary to the Gambia Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Hon. Saikouba Jarjue, former National Assembly Member for Busumbala Constituency is also appointed as the First Secretary at the Gambia Embassy in Mauritania.

All these latest foreign service appointments were made public on Tuesday, 16th August 2022.
