Journalist Kebba Jeffang Travels To U.S. For IVLP

Banjul, The Gambia- The United States Embassy in Banjul is pleased to announce that respected Gambian Journalist Kebba Jeffang, has travelled to the United States for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The program is organized by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).

Kebba was among three (3) Gambian journalists selected by the Foreign Press Centers of the State Department together with U.S. Embassy Banjul to virtually cover the 2020 presidential election of the United States. He is counted as one of the best and most committed Gambian journalists.

His experience spans over nine years covering diverse issues of public interest. He worked for leading local newspapers in The Gambia, focusing on human rights issues, legal proceedings, and economic and business matters. He later joined ’Malagen’, a Gambian investigative firm as head of fact-checking and media monitoring.

Kebba received several rewards from the National Journalism Awards organized by the Gambia Press Union for his outstanding works.

IVLP helps strengthen U.S. engagement with countries around the world and cultivate lasting relationships by connecting current and emerging foreign leaders with their American counterparts through short-term visits to the United States. Participants meet with professional counterparts, visit U.S. public and private sector organizations related to their project theme.
