“Today we are giving out the Ambassador of Peace Award all over the world. As the coordinator of GPBNet, we are praying for peace all over the world for the year 2025 that the year should be a peaceful place. We are today awarding one of our illustrious African Journalists in the person of Ousman A. Marong, who has been doing a lot in being a voice for the voiceless by trying to get people informed through his Niumi FM radio. We have awarded him with the Global Ambassador of Peace. Ousman had been working tirelessly both day and night by ensuring that peace and people’s rights were being protected, not only in the Gambia but in Africa and the world in general. Marong has been doing his best to see the less privileged and those who did not understand the current happenings in the world. He carries them along,” said Chief Dr. Daniel Agiri.
He continued: “This is one young man who decided to be a voice for the voiceless. As he continued on his good work we are going to appoint him as our West Africa in general as Ambassador of Peace.”
On his part, Marong expressed gratitude to the foundation for recognizing and awarding him. He said the honor would go a long way in motivating him to continue to play his watchdog role toward influencing policies.
He also encouraged his colleague media practitioners to take advantage of the numerous opportunities to contribute to addressing societal challenges.
“Journalism in Africa is a journalism of necessity and I have no other options than to work, work, and work again,” he concluded.
