Gambian Diplomat Recalled for embezzling President Barrow‘s 5,000 dollar donation

Jerreh Jammeh, the Deputy Head of Mission of The Gambia to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania has been recalled, LamToro News was reliably informed.

Sources say the top diplomat was recalled for embezzling an amount of US $5,000  donated by President Adama Barrow to the Gambian Association in Mauritania recently.

“The President was informed that the money he donated to us did not reach us and he made enquiries. President Barrow contacted Jerreh Jammeh himself and he confessed to have eaten the money and the President decided to recall him,“ said a source in Mauritania.

A senior government official (name withheld) also confirmed this story for LamToro News and said Mr. Jammeh has been recalled for embezzling funds donated to the Gambian Association by the president.

Readers would recalled that President Adama Barrow travelled to Mauritania on 8th January 2024 where he was awarded the African for Peace Promotion Award 2024, becoming the third President to receive this honour.

It was during this visit when the president met with the Gambian community in Mauritania.
