President Barrow has on Tuesday received the report of the Acute Kidney Injury- AKI outbreak presented to him by the task force constituted in October 2022.
According to the Chairman, Babucarr Suwareh, the task force comprised civil society, the legal fraternity, security, health and others tasked with investigating, reviewing and reporting on the cause of the deaths in children after consuming a suspected cough syrup.
He said the report outlines the research and all processes involved in compiling the document for the executive to study.
Following the presentation of the report, President Barrow commended members of the task force while assuring them that the government would study it and act on the recommendations.
In a separate engagement, President Barrow conferred the insignia of the Commander of the Republic of the Gambia on the MRC Holland Foundation for the invaluable work they have been doing in The Gambia, especially in the education sector. According to the citation, the foundation has built thousands of classrooms and staff quarters. Additionally, they have created a conducive environment for learning through the provision of facilities and teaching materials and scholarships to the less privileged in society. By virtue of the award, the foundation is a friend of the Republic of The Gambia.
