A parliamentary committee in Senegal yesterday voted out Aminata Toure widely called Mimi Toure, causing her to lose her parliamentary seat. This decision came following her exit from the Benno Bokk Yaakaar coalition which voted her into the Parliament in September last year.

Mimi Toure is organizing a press conference this afternoon to respond to the parliamentary decision taken yesterday.

However, political observers say the decision became successful with the support of the Wallu Senegal coalition (headed by PDS), which joined Benno Bokk Yaakaar to remove Mimi Toure from the parliament.

Mimi’s relationship with President Macky Sall and his Benno Bokk Yaakaar coalition severed in September 2022 during the installation of the new parliamentarians and voting of the Speaker of the 14th Legislature of Senegal, in addition to her stance against President Sall’s decision to seek a 3rd term in office.

Mimi’s decision bounced back onto her and her fate will be finalized in the coming days during the Parliamentary session.
