Forty-six Ivorian soldiers detained in Mali for nearly six months and sentenced to 20 years in prison arrived in Abidjan on Saturday, the day after they were pardoned by Malian junta leader Assimi Goïta.

The Ivorian air force plane carrying them landed at 11.40 pm at Abidjan airport. The soldiers, dressed in military uniforms, stepped out one by one, waving a small Ivorian flag, and were welcomed off the plane by President Alassane Ouattara.
