Sierra Leonean First Lady shocked by violent protest causing deaths

Her Excellency Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone is shocked and saddened by the violent protest in Sierra Leone that led to the loss of lives of civilians and some security officers on Wednesday, 10th August 2022.

She posted on her Facebook page:

“I am saddened to see such an unfortunate situation in Sierra Leone. My sympathy goes to all the bereaved families and I pray that Allah will take control as they grieve.

We have come too far to be going backward again. It is as if we have not learnt lessons from our 11 years of senseless war which is the cause of much of our situation today.

We keep allowing politicians to use our youths to cause havoc that will taint our country as unstable but you never get to see the children of these politicians leading the protests. This is because they forbid their children from going out. Instead, they use other people’s children.

Let us pray that we continue to enjoy the peace we have as the 4th most peaceful country in Sub-Saharan Africa.“

The First Lady called for calm and described peace as wealth.

She said: “Let us maintain our calm and address all these situations with wisdom. Violence of any kind is wrong. Killing innocent people is wrong. Please let us not forget that we are all Sierra Leoneans and we have to be each other’s keeper. We only have one Sierra Leone. One Salone.

May the souls of all those who lost their lives, rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Mama Salone is crying. 😭😭😭💔💔💔
