Lamin Jadama appointed as new SIS deputy director general

Seasoned intelligence officer Lamin Jadama has been appointed as the new deputy director general of the State Intelligence Service (SIS). His appointment took effect on 22nd July 2022.Mr.  Jadama replaces Pa Musa Jobarteh, who is now appointed as Gambia’s ambassador to Brussels.

Jadama is amongst the longest serving personnel of the SIS, having previously served as commandant of the Training Academy, director of training, director External Security and Cooperation and director of Analysis amongst other responsibilities.

This information was contained in a press statement issued by the SIS. Additionally, news of the appointment of Lamin Jadama was first announced at a meeting organised by the SIS Director General Ousman Sowe for all the Regional Directors and OCs at the SIS Headquarters in Banjul.

The SIS number 2 senior man Jadama is a native of Katamina, Niamina West District in the Central River Region. He served as a National Assembly Member from 2006 to 2016.

The statement from the country’s intelligence agency stated that Jadama, until his appointment, was SIS director of Reforms and Special Assistant to the Director General.

“The SIS Director General Mr. Ousman Sowe, senior management and staff of the SIS wish to deeply thank His Excellency President Adama Barrow for the appointment of Mr. Lamin Jadama as the new deputy director general of SIS and by the same token profoundly congratulate Mr. Jobarteh on his new appointment whilst thanking him profusely for his dedication, high sense of duty and immense contributions to the work of the SIS,“ the statement indicated.

Minor reshuffle

In another development, LTN has learnt of a minor shake-up that was effected at the SIS. Lamin Fatty, former Regional Director of Kanifing Municipality has been appointed as Director of Internal Security, replacing Samba Sow alias Batcho.

Mr. Sidat Touray was elevated to the position of Regional Director for Kanifing Municipality. This development took effect last month.
