LamToro News Remembers the Late Journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh

The late Chief Manneh

Today marks 16 years since the late journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh was arrested by security officers under the regime of former dictator Yahya Jammeh.

He was picked up from the Daily Observer Company in Bakau on 7th July 2006. Since then, a lot has been said about his whereabouts and the TRRC conducted investigations into his arrest, detention, etc.

It is now established that Chief Manneh died in State custody but justice is yet to be served. I hope that the government will take his whereabouts seriously and deliver justice in his case like any other Gambian.

Chief Manneh was a good man who had supported many of us who were young journalists at the time at the Daily Observer. He will always remain in our memories and I shall always remember him in my prayers.

Rest in peace Chief Manneh. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdausi. Ameen!
