Anti Crime Unit, PIU officers conduct patrol in Sami District following armed robbery incident

Following the armed robbery attack in Sami Tenda on Tuesday 28th June 2022, where one Mustapha Faal, a Mauritanian businessman was shot and seriously injured, members of the Anti Crime Unit and Police Intervention Unit (PIU) of the Gambia Police Force, on Friday, 1st July conducted a patrol in Sami District.

Reliable sources hinted LamToro News that the officers visited the scene of the incident in Sami Tenda and they also met and discuss with village heads in Sami District the rising armed attacks in the area.

“The police came here and met our Alkalo. They also met with other Alkalos in the District and discussed with them the rising insecurity in our constituency,“ a native of Sami who wished to remain anonymous said.

The source added that the police patrol team visited villages like Njallal Toro, Sami Tenda, Karantaba, Timpa, Demfai, Tabanani, Ranerou, Sami Omar Jula, and other villages along the border between the Gambia and Senegal.

However, it was not clear if the police made any arrests since the attack took place but they engaged the communities to be vigilant and report any suspect to the nearest police station.
