The opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wii has postponed its planned protest on Wednesday, 29th June 2022, leaders of the coalition announced at a press conference held a few minutes ago at the residence of Ousman Sonko at Cite Keur Gorgui in Dakar.

Speaking at the press conference, Ousman Sonko, leader of the Ywwi Askan Wii coalition ahead of the parliamentary election slated for 31st July 2022, said the regime of President Macky Sall has denied them permission to protest and there have been several interventions from religious leaders and concerned individuals. He said they will postpone today’s protest but will call for a protest tomorrow evening, whereby everyone can remain in their houses and bang pots to make noise. “We want to bang pots for 30 minutes beginning from 8:00 pm -8:30 pm.”

He accused Macky Sall of being a dictator who wants to impose himself and contest for a 3rd Term, which he added, the opposition will not accept.

On the other hand, the government of President Sall has denied the opposition permit to protest based on security reasons, etc.

The police and military have also been prepared and are on standby for any public disorder or counter any protest staged by the opposition.
