Two opposition Parliamentarians from the opposition party PUR, were on Thursday sent to prison by a judge in Dakar, Senegal, Senegal’s leading online news site Seneweb reports.
The MPs; Massata Samb and Mamadou Niang are members of the opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wii. They are prosecuted for the assault of their colleague Amy Ndiaye Gniby, a female Parliamentarian and member of the ruling coalition Benno Bokk Yaakarr at the National Assembly in Dakar during a live session. The assault came following the verbal attack of Amy Ndiaye Gniby on Serigne Moustapha Sy, religious leader, and leader of the PUR political party.
The assault on Amy Ndiaye Gniby resulted in her temporal incapacity to work for 23 days.
