Senegal’s leading online news site Seneweb is reporting that the former Prime Minister of Senegal (2013-2014) Aminata Toure widely known as Mimi Toure is planning to set up her own political movement called «Mimi» (Mouvement pour l’intégrité, le mérite et l’indépendance), plans to contest 2024 Presidential election.
“Mimi” which stands for (Movement for integrity, merit, and independence), is expected to be launched on Sunday, 25th September 2022 at 3 pm at the restaurant Le Gondolier in Yoff-Virage in Dakar, where she will hold a press conference.
The former Minister of Justice Mimi Toure was quoted saying: “Each of us will have to commit to setting up our Mimi2024 sections on the ground with the form that will be shared. Once completed, it will be secured in the national database. So we will be well prepared for the collection of sponsorships next year.”
However, it seems there is a breakup between the former head of government (Prime Minister Mimi Toure) and the presidential majority, especially President Macky Sall. The head of the list of the Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition Mimi Toure was disappointed when she was not chosen by President Sall to contest as Speaker of the National Assembly last week, which she claimed was promised to her.
