The Abubakary Jawara Foundation on Friday donated 100 Bags and 50 king-size bed mattresses to the victims of the recent floods within the Kanifing Municipality. The donation was presented at the KMC grounds to the Mayor of Kanifing Ahmed Talib Bensouda.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Yusupha Jawara, a brother to Dr, Abubakary Jawara, said the Abubakary Jawara Foundation has once again tried to meet the needs of the victims of the rain floods in The Gambia, by willingly donating rice and bed mattresses to the affected persons in the Kanifing Municipality Counsel {KMC}

According to him, the donated items, 100 Bags of rice which is equivalent to D135, 000 and 50 king-size bed mattresses which is equivalent to D175, 000 would be given for onward distribution within the KMC by the Mayor and his team.

He said: “I am very honoured to come back here on behalf of my brother Abubakary Jawara the president and founder of the Abubakary Jawara’s foundation to read out our donation progresses as this foundation is a charitable and non-profitable, registered with the Ministry Justice of The Gambia. The foundation’s main objective is to uplift the status and living conditions of the financially disadvantaged people in our country by helping to provide their basic necessities.  The Abubakary Jawara’s Jawara foundation has been so helpful and will continue to be helpful to the socio-economic development of this humble country at no cost, but out of love and mercy for its people that are at a disadvantage of basic life necessities. The foundation does this in response to the hardships faced by the needy to improve on their living standards. We hope that this donation will help the beneficiaries of KMC in improving on their conditions of the rain floods they faced during this period.”

Jawara thanked the mayor and his staff for their support and for creating the enabling environment for this presentation.
