Comium, one of the country’s leading private GSM operators on Wednesday organised Iftar for its partners and media organisations in the country. The Iftar was held at the Coco Ocean Resort & Spa Hotel in Bijilo.
In his welcoming remarks, Hassan Kabani, CEO of Comium, thanked the gathering for honoring their invitation and for joining Comium’s Iftar in the spirit of Ramadan, a month he described as a period of goodness and blessings; a month that reminds people of reflection,gratitude, compassion, and sharing.
He said: “These values guide us not only as individuals, but also as an organization serving the people of The Gambia. Allow me to express my sincere appreciation to the Honorable Minister of Information, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay for his presence with and for his continued support for the development of the information and communications sectors. I would also like to recognize the media, journalists, editors, professionals, and influencers for the essential role you play in national development. You inform, educate, shape public understanding, and help build trust. At Comium, we see you as partners, sharing the responsibility for progress.”

Highlighting Comium’s achievements over the past year, CEO Kabani said Comium has continued its journey of strengthening its foundations and moving forward as a resilient and forward-looking telecommunications operator.
He disclosed that their focus has been on;

• Enhancing network quality
• Introducing innovative and affordable offers to democratize telecom services
• Improving customer experience
• Supporting national initiatives and community programs.
Commenting on Comium’s Ramadan campaign, CEO Kabani described the campaign as a reflection of corporate success, which must go hand in hand with social responsibility. He boasted that Comium is proud to operate in The Gambia, to grow, invest, and contribute meaningfully to the country’s digital future.
“We remain focused on expanding our footprint by supporting digital inclusion, extending connectivity, creating more employment opportunities, and contributing to economic growth. Telecommunications today is no longer a luxury. It is the backbone of education, health, financial services, business solutions, and youth empowerment. Connectivity increasingly means access, access to information, knowledge, opportunity, and participation in the modern economy. The future of The Gambia’s digital ecosystem is promising. Network modernization,broader data accessibility, digital financial services, innovation, and support for entrepreneurship will be key pillars of national progress,” he asserted.

The Comium boss also observed that this journey cannot be achieved by operators alone, adding that it requires collaboration between government, the private sector, regulators, and the media. He noted that transparency and open communication therefore remain a priority, while assuring that Comium’s doors are opened, and they welcome continued dialogue and partnership.

On his part, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, thanked Comium for organising the Iftar, while recognising their great contributions to the country’s digital transformation and Information Technology sector. He also encouraged them to continue to contribute effectively to the advancement of the country and thanked them for ploughing back to the society through their corporate social responsibilities.
