Mrs. Ida Jeng Njie, former Regional Tourism Director for the West Coast Region, has been appointed on promotion as the new Director General of The Gambia Tourism Board, effective 2nd January 2026, LamToro News has learnt.
She replaces Mr. Abubacarr S. Camara, who is now appointed as Deputy Head of Mission to The Gambian Embassy in Qatar.
Ida Jeng Njie is one of the most senior directors of GTB. She has held several positions at the Gambia Tourism Board including Marketing Manager responsible for Communications. She was later appointed as Director of Tourism International in The UK and was later recalled after the change of government to serve as Director of Tourism in the West Coast Region, with her office based in Farato, a position she held until her recent promotion.
