Sheriff Sanyang, the former director of Administration of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has been appointed as the new Deputy Director General of DLEAG, LamToro News confirmed. He replaces Gibril Ngorr Secka, whose contract has ended. Sanyang’s appointment has been finally confirmed, and he has assumed office duties as DDG, LamToro News further confirmed.
Mr. Sanyang is a seasoned officer with a good record of professional experience and integrity. He was acting director of Admin of DLEAG in 2014 when Demba Ceesay (current DG) left for the United States. Mr. Sanyang was later confirmed as Director of Admin in 2017.
On his security background, Sheriff Sanyang was first enlisted into the then Gendarmerie which was later merged into the Gambia Police Force. Sanyang was a CID officer at the police and was part of the officers who were later moved to the drug squad unit. He was moved together with the later Mbaye Njie, former Director of Operations of DLEAG, current Commissioner of Operation of DLEAG Lamin Ceesay, AIG Pateh S.H Jallow, current Chief of Operations of the Gambia Police Force, Commissioner Kalilu Njie of Licensing Unit of The Gambia Police Force and others.
