The Gambia Police Force has on Thursday, 19th June 2025, officially handed over building permits to GIZ under the EU – German Police Programme for the construction of five model police stations across the country.

The permits, obtained from the Department of Physical Planning, were presented during a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray. IGP Touray expressed gratitude to the EU – German Police Programme for this milestone achievement and commended CSP Kebba Jobe, Head of GPF Engineering, for his exemplary technical leadership throughout the project.

Dr. Marion Popp, Head of Country Component Office at GIZ, expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration. She confirmed that both the project’s engineering consultants and GPF engineers will jointly oversee the construction process.

The five stations earmarked for development are located in Brikama, Soma, Farafenni, Basse, and Maka-Masireh. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for July.

The GPF remains committed to strengthening partnerships with development stakeholders to advance police infrastructure and improve service delivery nationwide.
