Lamin K. Jobarteh, Proprietor of Sensending Lodge in Laminkoto, Central River Region has reacted to the snake bite incident which happened at his lodge on 29th January this year. A case of snake bite incident involving a tourist identified as Krisztian (full name witheld), a 47-year-old from Budapest, Hungary was reported at his lodge.

Mr Jobarteh confirmed that the said incident occurred and prayed for the victim’s speedy recovery. “The incident is happening for the first time for almost 14 years since I opened this lodge. Here is an Eco lodge and usually Eco Lodges are located near the river side and any reptiles could be seen around eventhough we don’t pray for that. I feel sorry for the said guest and I wish him a speedy recovery. I want to use this occasion to appeal to philanthropists and even the Gambia Tourism Board to support our Eco Lodge in any way possible. I managed to rehabilitate the entire lodge but usually when heaving rains come, the place is flooded with water from the riverside. So we need support,” he told LamToro News.

He also revealed that the snake that bite the tourist was killed three days after the incident. “We made a random search for the snake and realized it was hiding in a pipe somewhere, through which it had access to the toilet.”

Jobarteh called on individuals, philanthropists and the well wishers to support them upgrade the lodge to a higher standard. Anyone wishing to help Jobarteh can contact him on the following contact details: +2203287790 and email; Sensendinglodge1@gmail.com
