Senegal’s leading news site Seneweb is reporting the participation of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit for Palestine and Lebanon, held on Monday, 11th November 2024 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
According to news monitored on Seneweb, Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye during his speech, denounced the situation in Gaza, where the population has been under Israeli bombardment for over a year.
He said: “The Palestinian people are being exposed to mass murder and unprecedented violence. These inhuman acts are taking place before our very eyes, and we cannot remain silent in the face of this injustice.”
The Senegalese Head of State also took a dig at the UN Security Council. “We see the inaction of the Security Council, which is losing its credibility,” he added.
“According to the latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 43,603 people have died in the Gaza Strip since 7 October 2023. In Lebanon, the death toll from Israeli attacks stands at 3,200.”
