The Kerewan Samba Sira Sports Committee’s Nawettan Tournament named after the Late Alhagie Hamidou Saidy will begin tomorrow, 4th August 2024 in Kerewan Samba Sira, Lower Fulladou West District, Central River Region, LamToro News has learnt.
Sixteen teams have been selected to take part in this year’s tournament.
Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Yorro Saidy, head of the SIU at the Senegambia Police Station, who is also a son of the late Alhagie Hamidou Saidy, has been invited to take the kick-off.
This year, a staggering sum of D50,000 has been set aside for the Winners, whilst the Runners Up will receive D30,000 and a sum of D15,000 is set aside for the Third Place.
Additionally, at the end of the tournament, the most discipline team will receive D5,000, the best player will get D2,000, the leading goal scorer will receive D2,000, the best goalkeeper will also have D2,000 and the youngest best player will receive D1000.
Organisers say this type of tournament is the first of its kind in Kerewan Samba Sira, adding that their main sponsors are Hon. Gibbi Mballow, Yorro Saidy, The Youths of Kerewan Samba Sira and an organisation called Volunteer Trails, The Gambia.
