Changes in the Civil Service:

Demba Ceesay, new DLEAG boss

Banjul – The Gambia. In consultation with the Public Service Commission, His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, has effected the following changes within the Civil Service:

Mr. Bakary Gassama, Director General (DG) of, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) is redeployed to the Foreign Service as Deputy Head of Mission (DHM), The Gambian Embassy in China;

Mr. Demba Ceesay replaces Mr. Gassama as DG, DLEAG. A former schoolteacher, Mr. Ceesay had served as a lecturer at The Gambia College, rising to the position of Registrar. He had previously served as the Drug Agency’s Administrative Director from 2010 to 2015.

Mr. ⁠Adama Drammeh, Executive Director of, the National Aids Secretariat (NASS), is promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary No. 2 at the Ministry of Health. Mr. Alpha Khan, Deputy Executive Director of the NASS, takes over from Mr. Drammeh as Executive Director.

Lamin Jadama, former SIS DG

Meanwhile, Mr Lamin Jadama, former Director General of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), is redeployed to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) as Deputy Executive Director.

All appointments, promotions and redeployments are effective immediately.
