Tragic Incident in Jimara: 6 children drowned at Sare Bojo Lake, 5 confirmed dead, one still missing

LamToro News has learnt the tragic incident involving at least six (6) children between the ages of 10 and 15 on Sunday afternoon, 2nd June 2024 in Sare Bojo village, Jimara District, Upper River Region.

All the six children have drowned at a lake in Sare Bojo and 5 have been confirmed dead, whilst one is still missing.

Speaking to LamToro News, Ousman Mballow, a teacher from Sare Bojo confirmed the incident.

He said: “The victims; Ebrima Jallow, 12 years old, Abdoulie Jallow, 15 years old, Yerro Fula Jallow, 13 years old (all from the same home), and Muhammed Baldeh, 13 years old were pronounced dead at the Bansang Hospital. The fifth victim, Amadou Baldeh,a 13-year old was found dead in the lake, whilst Haruna Jallow is still missing.“

Mr. Mballow added that the four children were rescued and rushed to Bansang Hospital but were all pronounced dead minutes after reaching the hospital.

According to him, parents of the missing boy Haruna Jallow have confirmed seeing his clothes and shoes at the lake side but could not find him until now.

Another source told LamToro News that agents of the State Intelligence Services (SIS) have just arrived at the scene and were able to bring two fishermen who are currently helping in the seearch for the missing Haruna Jallow in the water.
