Gov‘t sends delegation to investigate alleged assault, suspected administrative malpractices at the Gambian Embassy in Cuba

The Government of The Gambia has sent a special delegation to investigate a case of an alleged assault against the Ambassador Sheikh Tijan Hydara by his Deputy Head of Mission (DHM) Vincent Mendy, and a suspected financial malpractice uncovered by the Cuban bank responsible for the accounts of the Gambian  Embassy in Havana, Cuba, LamToro News has learnt.

An authority within the Gambia Government said: “The fighting incident occured in the last week of January 2024 during a meeting convened by the Ambassador in his office to resolve certain irregularities and official matters in the Mission.“ 

A source who spoke to LamToro News from Banjul under conditions of anonymity said: “there is definitely a case of an assault on the Ambassador Sheikh Tijan Hydara by Vincent Mendy, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Ambassador‘s Office.”
