As a former avid viewer of the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) and a passionate advocate for its role in our society, I am writing to express my thoughts and concerns about the current state of programming at GRTS.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge the importance of GRTS as a national broadcaster that serves as a vital source of information, education, and entertainment for our citizens. It has played a significant role in our society, and its potential to further enrich our lives remains significant.
However, I have noticed a decline in the quality of programs on GRTS, which has led to a decrease in viewership. The programs are often too boring and lack substance and taste, which has led to a lack of interest from viewers.
To improve the programming and increase viewership, I suggest that GRTS seeks feedback and
suggestions from viewers, content creators, and stakeholders to ensure that the programming
reflects the needs and interests of our diverse audience. Investing in training and development
opportunities for staff to enhance their skills in content creation, production and storytelling can
also improve the quality of programs. Collaborating with local content creators, experts, and
organizations to develop fresh and engaging content that resonates with the audience can also
help.
Encouraging public engagement and participation through interactive programs and
opportunities for viewers to voice their concerns and opinions can foster a sense of inclusivity. I
understand that GRTS faces various challenges, but I am confident that with commitment and
collaboration, we can make GRTS an even more influential and respected broadcaster in The
Gambia.
I kindly request that the management of GRTS consider the above actions and conduct an
internal review of the current programming to identify areas that may need improvement.
