BREAKING NEWS: Man arrested for being in possession of ‘unlicensed firearm’ with 7 live rounds

Pa Mandou Manneh, a 43-year-old man has been arrested in Basse for allegedly being in possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was also in possession with seven (7) live rounds.

LTN has learnt that the suspect, a native of Basse Manneh Kunda is currently detained at the Basse Police Station and has been being charged while helping the police in their investigation.

A reliable source told LTN that the suspect, whose case was registered at the Station Diary with reference number D/R 52/10/10/23, was interrogated by officers of the Serious Crime Unit at the Basse Police Station.

“The police got a tip-off and invited the suspect to the station for investigation. He first denied having any pistol but later confessed to being in possession of a pistol with live rounds. The suspect said he got the pistol from one Mba Trawally, a native of Mansajang since 2018. The suspect took the police to Brikamaba where the said pistol and live rounds were recovered,“ said a source.

According to our source, the police made a phone call to the said Mba Trawally and she told them that she was out of the jurisdiction but promised to report to the Basse Police Station tomorrow, 11th October 2023.

Meanwhile LTN’s effort to reach out to the police PRO proved futile.
