PRESS RELEASE

Date: September 25, 2023

The Gambia Police Force extends a reminder to the public, especially drivers, to promptly collect their driver’s licenses.

The License Unit of GPF has encountered challenges with drivers who apply for licenses or renewals but fail to pick up the issued licenses. Instead, they content themselves with payment receipts, burdening the unit with storage responsibilities.

It’s important to note that the renewal of driver’s licenses is no longer limited to year-end; recent changes have made it a year-round process. Consequently, individuals are strongly encouraged to collect their licenses within two weeks of issuance from their respective locations, including Banjul, Kanifing, Brikama, and others.

Additionally, it has been observed that some drivers opt to show payment receipts as proof of payment for a valid driver’s license instead of possessing a physical license. To address this, any receipt presented for verification beyond two-week issuances will not be considered a valid substitute for a driver’s license. The law will be applied accordingly.

The Gambia Police Force seeks the full cooperation of the public in adhering to traffic regulations and ensuring the responsible and timely collection of driver’s licenses.
