3 Anti Crime officers shot, 2 died on the spot, 1 hospitalised

Reports reaching LTN have it that 3 officers of the Anti Crime Unit (ACU) of the Gambia Police Force were shot while on duty at the Sukuta -Jabang Traffic Light Junction along the OIC road on Tuesday evening.

Senior security officers confirmed that the unknown shooter, dressed in a gown (Haftan) approached the officers and exchanged words with them before opening fire on them.

“Immediately after the first shot, the other officer attempted to break him and he shot him too. He also shot at the 3rd officer who is a female officer,“ said a source.

Both the two officers are confirmed dead while the female is in a critical condition. She is reported to be receiving treatment at the Ndemban Clinic in Bakau.

Another source confirmed the dead bodies were also transported to the Ndemban Clinic. “These are the ACU officers guarding the OIC road. The incident is like a premeditated attack but investigations shall reveal a lot,” said a senior security officer who wished to remain anonymous.

The police spokesperson Momodou Musa Sisawo confirmed the incident and said the police will give an update on the incident later.
