The village of Raneru Wollof in the Sami District of the Central River Region North has now benefitted from a new Borehole, thanks to the services of Cornerstone Construction Group headed by Alhagie Sanyang through the efforts and intervention of Pa Jagne, a native of Sami District. Mr. Jagne is also a strong militant and supporter of the NPP.
It would be recalled that Raneru was the only village in Sami District that was buying water from neighbouring villages in Senegal especially in 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic outbreak. It is located at the border between The Gambia and Senegal in CRR north.
Several interventions were made in the past to resolve the water crisis but it failed until recently (this year 2023) when Pa Jagne visited Raneru and interviewed women and the villagers about the water crisis. He made a video which went viral and showed it to the President Adama Barrow, some minister like the Works Minister Ebrima Sillah and other people for help.
Surprisingly, the Cornerstone Construction Group responded to this call and promised to construct a Borehole for Raneru Wollof. The project is now completed and the people of Raneru are benefitting from this clean drinking water. The Borehole has eight (8) taps.
The Alkalo of Raneru Wollof, Haruna Sinyan thanked Pa Jagne for his efforts. He also thanked President Barrow, his ministers and the Cornerstone Construction Group for coming to their aid.
On his part, Pa Jagne, expressed delight at the great achievement of Raneru through his efforts. He thanked President Barrow, his ministers and Cornerstone Construction Group for the support to Raneru. He said he is happy to bring to an end to the suffering faced by residents of Raneru since the days of the First Republic.
