In response to the 16th July 2023 flooding in Boro Kanda Kasse village in Wuli East District, Upper River Region, which destroyed many household belongings, food items, small ruminants and crops, the Boro Kanda Kasse Community Development Association (BKKCDA) on 29th July came to the rescue of the affected community by donating them D30,000.

The flooding destroyed food items, cloths, furniture, crops, small ruminants, among other belongings of the affected families, leaving them in a state of disarray. In line with their objectives to help members and people in dire need, Boro Kanda Kasse Community Development Association stepped in as a result to help the community recover from their horrible experience which went away with almost all their belongings.

Presenting the cash, Mr. Kissima Garry, on behalf of BKKCDA, sympthatised with the victims and called on them to take it in good faith, adding that they are pleased to help the victims as it is part of the association’s mandate to help out people in need. In receiving the donated cash, Mr Saiba Juwara, the Alkalo of Boro Kanda Kasse thanked Allah that no life was lost, and expressed gratitude to the BKKCDA for the gesture and appealed to the villagers to be united for the betterment of the village.

Alhagie Mawdo Garry, the Chairman of the Village Development Committee said this was not the first time BKKCDA has been coming to the aid of people of the village. He added that they support the village aytime the need arises from fencing their graveyards, constructing the vegetable market, providing over 300 desks for the village Arabic school, amongst others. Alhagie Ansumana Danso, a community elder, appealed to government, individuals, institutions and philanthropists to come to their aid as the flooding left them in a critical situation which rendered their roads to the hospital and farmlands almost inaccessible.

Mahamadou Tai Juwara, Sainey Keita and Tumani Juwara all thanked BKKCDA for the help, and prayed for the association’s longevity.
