SENEGAL – An incredible case. A police officer on duty at the central police station of Tambacounda has been arrested. According to L’Observateur, he is accused of having stolen two sealed motorbikes belonging to individuals who had had a run-in with the law.
The case dates back to last Friday night, the newspaper says, when the former military and security agent of proximity (ASP) on duty at the High Court of Tambacounda noticed the disappearance of the machines. He informed his superior, who called the Public Prosecutor. The investigation was handed over to the Tambacounda central police station where the accused agent was on duty the night of the incident. Moreover, the motorbikes were found in his hands.
L’Obs underlines that after having returned the stolen motorbikes, the police officer is currently detained at the police station. The motorbikes were recovered and immobilized in the court premises.
