UDP Youth Wing seeks police permit to hold peaceful anti-corruption procession

The Youth Wing of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has applied for a permit to seek police protection to hold a peaceful procession to manifest their dissatisfaction with the corruption allegations emanating from the official reports of the Auditor General at the National Audit Office, LTN has learnt.

The Youth Wing wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) dated 1st March 2023, stating that the said procession is planned to be held on 9th March 2023.

“The procession will commence from the National Assembly Building to the Quadrangle – the seat of the Executive arm of the Government where we will hand over our petition demanding the enactment of the Anti-Corruption Bill before the National Assembly with all deliberate due speed. We hope to begin this procession between the hours of 12pm and 4pm,“ the letter signed by Hagie Suwaneh, National Youth President of the UDP Youth Wing stated.

Efforts to reach Almamy Taal, the spokesperson of the UDP for comments proved futile.
