The Principal Magistrate at the Brikama Magistrate’s Court Mrs. Isatou Dabo has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the National Agency Against Trafficking In Persons (NAATIP) at the Ministry of Justice, LTN has learnt.
Mrs. Dabo’s appointment was first revealed publicly by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Hon. Dawda A. Jallow during the opening of the Legal Year 2023 on Sunday, 5th February 2023. Although the Justice minister did not mention the name of the new Executive Director, he said they appointed someone from The Judiciary to replace the current Executive Director of NAATIP, Toulie Jawara.
LTN investigated the tip-off and was informed that Mrs. Isatou Dabo, Principal Magistrate at the Brikama Magistrate’s Court has been appointed. According to the Justice Minister, Mrs. Toulie Jawara will be redeployed.
When contacted by LTN, Mrs. Isatou Dabo reacted to her appointment.
“Trafficking in persons is and continues to be a priority area for the Government of The Gambia. A lot of progress has been made in combating same. My appointment as executive director of the agency simply means a continuation of protecting victims of trafficking, prosecution, prevention, and reinforcement of existing partnerships and forming new ones. I am humbled to serve my nation in a different capacity,“ she remarked.
