A resident of Fass Njagga Choi village in the North Bank Region has been arrested and placed under police custody. His arrest came following an armed attack on the officers of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) of the Gambia Police Force stationed in the area.
Reports of the incident show that a police officer allegedly identified as Corporal 1392 Jammeh was injured in the attack on his left hand. He is reported to be admitted at the Ndemban Clinic in Bakau where he is receiving medical treatment.
When contacted to shed light on this incident, the spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force Cadet ASP Binta Njie said: “A resident of Fass Njaga Choi is arrested, currently in our custody helping with the investigation.“
Further quizzed about the news of the seizure of a rifle from one of the officers, the PRO replied: “ Yes a rifle was taken away but there is no cause for alarm as there are men deployed to ensure safety and security in the area.“
