Following the deadly accident on the road to Kaffrine, President Macky Sall has declared a three-day national mourning period.
“Following today’s serious accident in Gniby, which caused 40 deaths, I have decided to declare a three-day national mourning period starting on 9 January. An inter-ministerial council will be held on the same date to take firm measures on road safety and public transport of passengers,” tweeted President Macky Sall.
It would be recalled that an accident occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday on the road to Kaffrine and left over 40 people dead and several seriously injured.
