Mr. Lamin Jatta, a Commissioner at the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has been demoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent and subsequently redeployed to the Gambia Prison Services, LTN has learnt.
Security sources revealed that Lamin Jatta was investigated by the Public Service Commission (PSC) on allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him by Mr. Seedou M. Touray, the Director General of the Gambia Immigration Department.
“This prompted his investigation by a committee established by the PSC at the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reform, Policy Coordination and Delivery sometime in October.”
A letter dated 14th October 2022, signed by O. Barrow on behalf of the Permanent Secretary at PSC, with reference number C8/122/01/Part1/(160), addressed to Mr. Lamin Jatta Commissioner of Immigration and copied to the Director General of GID, the Secretary-General Office of The President, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, the Director General Gambia Prison Services, the Judicial Secretary at the Judiciary of The Gambia, Accountant General, Auditor General, Secretary at PSC and PMO’s Human Resource Unit, informed Mr. Jatta of his demotion to the rank of Chief Superintendent and immediate redeployment to the Gambia Prison Services.
Lamin Jatta is a former NIA officer. He was redeployed to the Immigration Department and was at one time Immigration Commissioner responsible for the Central River Region.
