Training On Sexual And Gender-Based Violence For Police And Civil Society Ends

Public statement from the police.

Police Programme- Joint German-EU Support to the Gambia Police Force facilitated a two-day seminar on Sexual and Gender-based Violence from 15th to 16th October 2022 at Sindola Hotel in Kanilai.

The seminar aimed to improve partnership and information sharing between GPF and civil society organizations in handling cases of sexual and gender-based violence. The seminar comprised Officers from the Gender and Child Welfare and Public Relations Unit of GPF and members of Civil Society Organizations.

In her Opening remarks, the Gambian Component Manager of the Police Programme, Dr. Marion Popp, underscored the importance of the seminar noting that it will enable both GPF and CSOs to highlight pressing issues affecting victims of sexual and gender-based violence and come up with both short and long term solutions. She added that strengthening existing measures in line with good practice will enhance the timely delivery of justice for victims.

Mr. Edrissa Sallah, the M&E Advisor of the Programme gave the closing remarks and thanked the participants for the fruitful Seminar and hope for more interesting engagements in the future.
