South Korean investors conclude two-day fact-finding mission in The Gambia

A consortium of South Korean investors has concluded a two-day fact-finding mission in the Gambia. The investors facilitated by AFIC were received at the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency by the Director of Investment Promotion & Facilitation – Modou Lamin Sowe.

To Sowe, the delegation’s visit is timely as his department has over the years developed many comprehensive investment profiles seeking to attract potential investors into the smiling coast. The multidisciplinary team led by GIEPA visited the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Transport & Infrastructure, and Health. Priority areas of investment by the visited ministries were presented in line with specifics outlined by the Public Private Project Unit of the Ministry of Finance.

Areas identified by the visiting delegation for investment include the Banjul-Barra Bridge/ tunnel construction project, digital economy, ICT innovation and information hub, river transport development, construction of Banjul shipyard, some projects in the Agriculture sector, Health sector equipment supply and maintenance as well as the construction of a first-class Medical Hospital on organ transplant, special economic zone, construction of a shopping mall, and entertainment center.

The move, if actualized is envisaged to project destination Gambia as an economic hub within the sub-region and bridge the unemployment gap.
