Three committees earmarked for the forthcoming international bilateral trade fair between the Gambia and Nigeria were on Friday, 9th September 2022 inaugurated.
Presiding over the respective events held at GIEPA head office along Kairaba Avenue, both the Chief Executive of the Gambia Investment & Export Promotion Agency – Ousainou Senghore and a GIEPA Board of Director – Muhammad Silla, welcomed participants and expounded on the need to revisit the many bilateral accords signed between the two countries and devise ways and means of implementing them.
As per GIEPA mandate CEO Senghore emphasized, the promotional agency will continue to lead in coordinating and facilitating private sector investments into The Gambia, adding that stakeholders should embrace the environment to expand entrepreneurship development to create more jobs for the Gambian youth.
The inaugurated committees are logistics, media and communication, and enterprise development. Members of the various teams include GIEPA, the Ministries of Trade & Foreign Affairs, The Gambia Chambers of Commerce, The Nigerian High Commission, The Association of Gambian Manufacturers, Gambia Police Force, Gambia Immigration Department, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, Gambia Revenue Authority, National Farmers platform, and the National Enterprise Development Agency.
The committees discussed processes for the exhibition marking their formal assumption of duty on their task ahead. The Banjul bilateral trade fair is scheduled from 12th to 20th October 2022 and sales are restricted to locally made items by Gambian and Nigerian entrepreneurs.
