Senegal’s leading online medium Seneweb has reported that a  Nigerian man named Tope Gbenga Opaogun was arrested at the Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass.

According to Seneweb, the suspect, who is wanted by the FBI was coming from Lomé, the capital of Togo, in the company of his family. He was placed at the disposal of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), which referred him to the prosecutor on Wednesday, pending his possible extradition to the United States.

It is also reported that Tope Gbenga Opaogun was wanted by the American justice. According to Senegal’s Libération newspaper, which gives the information in its edition of Thursday, he was the subject of a red notice from Interpol dated March 4, 2021.

The newspaper said that the FBI accused the Nigerian of being involved in a vast fraud through computer systems whose damage is estimated at several million dollars.

The suspect denied the facts. According to Libération, he swears that criminals stole his identity to commit the crimes of which he is accused.
