IGP instructs police officers to collaborate with NDMA, others in assisting flood victims

PRESS RELEASE:

PUBLIC INFORMATION ON ONGOING FLOODS

IGP Sanyang

As we experience heavy downpours of rain, with reports of floods across the different parts of the country, the IGP has instructed the mobilization of police officers in platoons to collaborate with the National Disaster Management Agency NDMA and other emergency and humanitarian agencies to render valuable assistance to victims during the assessment and the evaluation process.

Furthermore, Traffic diversions have been put in place for motorists to follow in order to avoid affected roads.

This is because initial traffic assessments has shown certain roads and bridges are flooded and visibility seriously affected.

By this same token, communities around the regions are equally advised to avoid forest areas and bushes as thunder and lightning can be fatal particularly for children.

Members of the public are encouraged to cooperate with the assessment teams throughout this exercise.
