Shortage of Ordinary Passport Books Hits Gambia As Gov’t Orders Extension of Expired Passports

The Gambia Government has announced through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, that it has given orders to its Diplomatic Missions abroad to extend expired Gambian passports for affected holders until the new ordinary passport books are available.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry stated in a press release that this decision was taken in consultation with the Ministry of Interior.

EXTENSION OF EXPIRED GAMBIAN PASSPORTS

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad hereby informs the Gambian Diaspora that due to the acute shortage of ordinary passport books, the Republic of The Gambia through the Ministry of Interior has authorised our Diplomatic Missions abroad to extend expired Gambian passports of affected holders.
