PRO Muhammed Sanyang

“Musa Ndow was the secretary general of the Babylon Village Sports Committee. This association was established in September 2018 to promote grassroot football and development in the village,“ said Muhammed Sanyang, the public relations officer of the BVYSA.

PRO Sanyang revealed that the late Musa Ndow was the one who registered the Babylon Sports Association with the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) and he also facilitated good media relations between the association and the Gambian journalists and media houses in general.

“When we announced our intention to name this year’s tournament after Musa Ndow, the whole village appreciated it. We are starting the tournament on 17th July and the first match will be between Bantaba FC and the Late Alieu Mou Ndow FC,“ he stated.

He said they will print T-Shirts bearing Musa Ndow’s photo, adding that any form of support from the general public is highly welcomed.

Vice Chairman Bakary Sanneh

On his part, Mr. Bakary Sanneh, the Auditor of the Babylon Village Development Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Babylon Sports Committee, described the late Musa Ndow as a very active member of the VDC and the Sports Committee.

“Until his last day on earth, we were together with him and we were working at the football field until the last day before he travelled to the provinces where he had an accident and died. Musa left a big gap in the VDC, Babylon Sports Committee, and even The Gambia. The decision to name this year’s tournament after Musa is a step in the right direction. He is a very good man and was very down to earth,“ Mr. Sanneh remarked.

The late Musa Ndow and his colleague journalist Pa Modou Faal and one Kawsu Bayo, a Health worker, died in a car accident on 17th January 2022 while on a covid-19 sensitization programme along the Trans-Gambia highway around Farafenni.
