Gambia Int’l forward Jallow says Scorpions will unleash all their arsenals in their armory to qualify for Ivory Coast 23 AFCON

The Gambia International forward, Ablie Jallow who scored the only goal of the Scorpion’s 1-0 win against South Sudan at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal, has said that the scorpions will apply their back tricks to book their second appearance in Africa’s biggest football showpiece following their historical displayed in Cameroon in what was their maiden appearance.

The Scorpions’ match in Thies was their first (day 1) of the Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 23 qualifiers.

About three thousand fans traveled to Thies which lies 72km East of Dakar from Banjul to watch the Scorpions for the first time live since their 2-1 win over Gabon which earned them their debut ticket to the AFCON.

Ablie Jallow scored the only goal of the encounter when he pokes in Musa Barrow’s excellent true ball beyond the rushing, South Sudanese goalkeeper, Ramadan, and into the net in the 45+3 minutes of the first half to send the Scorpions faithful on their feet.

Jallow, 23, says the Scorpions will unleash all their arsenals in their armory to ensure that they qualify for the Ivory Coast 23 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We will do all we can to qualify once again because we already experienced the tournament, so we want to be there again,” Ablie Jallow told LamToro News in a post-match interview in Thies.

The Gambia’s captain, Omar Colley also re-echoed similar sentiments. He said the Scorpions are under immense pressure because they want to qualify for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We are under pressure because we want to qualify for the next AFCON, we don’t want to be like other teams who will make the first impression and wait for years before they could qualify again,” the Sampdoria defender said in a post-match press conference.

Ablie Jallow Jallow has recorded 5 goals for The Gambia including his memorial stunner in the Gambia’s debut match in the Cameroon 2021 AFCON match against Mauritania which the Scorpions won 1-0.

The FC Seraing diminutive star expresses joy for scoring the Gambia’s winning goal against South Sudan. Jallow said he likes to score for his country.

“I’m so happy to score for my country once again. Always if I am playing, I want to score for my country. As a forward player, if you play you need to score and I’m so happy to score for my country once again,” he remarked.

“I’m a forward player so always I work hard to score goals, is very important to score goals as a forward player in modern football.”

The Gambia will play match day 2 of the Ivory Coast 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville in Congo, on the 8th of June.
