7 Arrested, Charged With Arson in Kerr Mot Ali Village Clash

The Deputy Police Spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force, Inspector Alieu Jamanka has confirmed to LamToro News that seven people have been arrested and kept under police detention.

The suspects are accused of setting up fire on properties of residents of Keur Mot Ali Village in the Lower Saloum District, Central River Region (CRR) north.

According to the police deputy PRO, the 7 accused persons are all residents of different villages in Upper and Lower Saloum Districts of CRR north.

He disclosed that the accused persons have been charged with Arson contrary to Section 305 Sub-section 8 , Cap 10 Volume 3, Laws of the Gambia.

Inspector Jamanka said the police will brief the press as the investigation into this matter continues.

AIG Bojang used the opportunity to warn everyone including Senegalese in the neighbourhood to avoid causing any form of trouble on Gambian soil which will violate the laws of this land. He told the physical security men on the ground (mainly PIU and some soldiers) to deal with anyone who wants to cause trouble in the area, adding that there will be zero tolerance for crimes and criminality.

Meanwhile, the Operations Commander of the Gambia Police Force, AIG Landing Bojang, and his men also stormed Kerr Mot Ali on Tuesday to assess the crisis situation and as well talk to the residents to settle the dispute.
