Omar Sowe

Gambian youngster, Omar Sowe, says it will be a dream come through for him to represent The Gambia in international football. The Gambian Scorpions has shined in international football and was recently a Quarterfinalist in the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The New York Red Bulls starlet Sowe, who is on loan at the Icelandic Club, Breidablik FC told the Sports journalist Sonko that he set his heart on playing for the Scorpions.
“I would love to represent the country I was born in and it would be the only country I would play for.” Omar Sowe said.
Sowe, 21, said due to the Gambia’s historical performance at their maiden appearance at Africa’s elite men’s football tournament, AFCON, the tiny West African country has commanded respect in African football. Breidablik FC’s forward said he wishes to represent Tom Saintfiet’s side one day.
“It has been growing and starting to become respected after our performance in the Africa cup of nations and its starting to have top players coming in and hopefully, I can help the team someday”
The speedy forward enthused that the US Major League Soccer (MLS) is a good place for him to start his football career.
“The MLS is a good place to begin my career, the quality and speed of the game are top and good to develop as a player,” Omar Sowe told our reporter.
Omar Sowe explained the reason for his move to European football from the MLS.  He said that his move was inspired by his desire to taste European football.
“I have been improving and that’s the best thing I can do as a player but iI felt I needed something different and so I am currently on loan in Iceland to experience the European side of football and excel as a striker,” he explained.
Denis Hamlett, the Sporting Director of Red Bulls said the Gambian youngster was sent on loan for him to gather more minutes that will help him in his bid to become a top talent.
“We want to see Omar continue to get minutes and grow professionally at a top division and think this is a great opportunity for him,” he said.
