The lawsuit filed by Lawyer Melville Robertson Roberts (Plaintiff) against Aisha Tamba (1st Respondent), a journalist who was working at The Standard Newspaper and The Standard Newspaper (2nd Respondent) resumed on Wednesday, 6th December 2023 before Justice Isatou Janneh of the High Court in Bundung.
Aisha Tamba and The Standard Newspaper have been dragged to court by Lawyer Melville Robertson Roberts for alleged ‘unlawful publication‘.
The Standard Newspaper filed an affidavit in opposition to the application and Aisha Tamba also filed the same. The affidavits were late to be filed and the plaintiff‘s Lawyer Malick H.B Jallow accepted service in court on conditions that his client will be given three days to respond if he deems it neccessary. The court granted it and ordered for written briefs, thereby giving 14 days to Melville Robertson Roberts and 7 days to Aisha Tamba and The Standard Newspaper to file their briefs. The court also gave another 3 days to Melville Robertson Roberts and his lawyer for possible reply on points of law.
Wednesday‘s sitting was later adjourned for adoption of briefs on 10th January 2024, after which there will be a ruling on the judgement.
Both The Standard Newspaper rep. and Aisha Tamba were present in court and The Standard Newspaper is represented by Lawyer Abdoulie Fatty.
